Handmade Home: It's growing on me

This is the next phase to my new year new space, greenery. One thing that makes me happy is that every so often Ben will say that he wishes we had more plants in the house. I love house plants! So we went out and made some new purchases to bring in the green...

After we got our flora, a nice peace lily, bromeliad, zebra plant and cactus. Then I assessed the pot situation. I had two from the thrift store that I was excited to use, and then one from Target that I was dying to find a reason to purchase (middle one). I got a brown clay pot which I added a gold rim to that was going to be the home of the lily.

And there she is. I am really excited about the peace lily, but am being very careful to make sure I'm taking good care of it. Thankfully they tell you when they need water because the leave will droop a bit.

My little zebra plant has perked up since this picture, with yes, some water. You'll also notice a lovely little fern watercolor that Catherine made for me sitting on the shelf. You can see my bromeliad and cactus final project on the main picture. I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out.

I tried to get a picture of the plant I set up a couple weeks ago to better showcase the painted pot situation, but as you can see it was a challenge with Lucca around. Lucca I get it, you really want to get in the picture.

  1. Monika, I love your low camera angle. The addition of plants in a home is nearly as important as adding pets. Lucca may have been a bit jealous of loosing your full attention. :-)

    1. Thanks Linda. Funny maybe I should start posting all the photos that have a piece of dog in them...there are so many.

  2. Yay for new houseplants! We have a few but my cats love to eat the leaves off of them - stinkers.

    1. Cats are kind of stinkers! My problem is that one of the plants was by the door and Lucca rips in and out so fast that she runs in to it and the leaves get torn off. I would classify her as a stinker as well.
