A Gift for Mellen

Okay so like Christine, I have decided to share some of my past projects. Now keep in mind my projects were nowhere near as detailed or numerous. However, now that I am as isolated as she is, more so in fact, I anticipate some great things. But how fun for us all to watch my crafting dedication, skill and production grow. How fun.

This project I would like to share was a gift for my friend Emily's baby, Mary Ellen Jane, or Mellen. She was born almost two years ago so this is an older project, but don't be fooled she didn't receive it prior to or immediately after her birth. Oh no, I must remain consistent. I made the promise of an amazing hand crafted gift and then sat on it and let the guilt be my driving force. La Force'!

Similar to what Christine was explaining, I used a transfer pencil to copy the image
on to my fabric. To find this image I just did a search on Google images.

Apparently I got very stitch happy and decided to do some fabric layering and outlining. Nothing too advanced here I basically just left the foot up on the sewing machine to have freedom with my lines.

I lined the inside with a nice soft fleece polka dotted fabric and the front side is a gray jersey knit. I will tell you that working with the jersey knit was very difficult because it is so stretchy, also the red & white fabric I used on the edges was slick so again a total frustrations festival.

Apologies for the poor picture. But this is a close up of Miss Mellen's little baby name.

Me and Mellen!
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did, which was tremendously so if you have failed to hit that bar please go up to the top and read through it again this time with a little better disposition and energy. Or maybe we can meet in the middle. Welp, that's that. I did promise Christine a blanket and she said she didn't want to have to birth a child to get one. So maybe that will be something that I start working on... how many months until August. Don't get your hopes up sister I don't know if it'll ever happen.

  1. At this point, I'd just be happy to get a calendar. But you should also make me that blanket.

  2. That's a low blow, you know I have been relentless in my calendering. I took the morning off now I will calender the night away!
