Marriage!!!!

On Saturday my very dear friend Vanessa got herself hitched to a one (classy) Jeremy.  The day started with a trip to the Olympia Farmer's Market with my mom and Nicholas.  They had tons of garden starts, but it's too cold to actually plant anything yet.  These are pretty flowers that I liked but didn't purchase.

We got flowers, eggs, bread, and a little present for my cousin.

The wedding started at 5:00, so we left Olympia by 3:00...

The bride!

Cake topper!

My view. My cousin.

Dancing feet.

The wedding was fun.  We danced a lot.  Nick danced even more.  The bride and groom and friends ended the night at the Zoo Bar.  Nick and Cousin Anne were gracious enough to let Nick and myself stay with them on Saturday night..  Their upstairs was better than a hotel!  The four of us enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Hi Spot it was delicious. Nick and I bummed around Seattle a little bit.

MOLLY MOONS!!!! (note the cute dog)
It was a very enjoyable weekend, and the best thing was it felt like a whole weekend!  I'm hoping to get another one of those very soon...maybe this weekend even.

Hen night/stagette/kitchen tea!

Last night I learned that  in Australia, a bachelorette party is called a "hen night."  In Canada, they're referred to as "stagette" nights, and in South Africa it's called, "kitchen tea."  All of these terms I like more than bachelorette party.

Why all this discussion about kitchen tea you ask?  It's all because of this little lady.
She's getting married! So last night a group of swell gals got together and celebrated her way to matrimony.
VFB.

The night started out with some of this.

It ended after a lot of dancing that looked like this...

And then the next morning I woke up to this...

Prrrrrreeeeeettttttty, prrrrreeeeeetttty, prrrreeeeeeetttttttty good.

I'm very excited for next week's wedding festivities.

I did not wake up this morning feeling like P. Diddy

I had twenty olives yesterday.  Twenty m-fing olives!  Towards the end of the night no one told me, "Catherine, you smell like booze." Nick did say, "you smell like olives." I'm getting ahead of myself.
Nick and I spent the weekend in Seattle.  An overdue GNO happened on Saturday night.  Drinks were delicious, food was delicious, and the conversation...delicious. For whatever reason around 3:00, I decided to ditch the car I was riding in back to the hotel and walked back.  I was sure the hotel was closer than it was.  0.9 miles later at 3:17 a.m. I arrived at the hotel.  I think I got annoyed when Nick and Chase were talking about burgers and Trailer Park Boys.  I paid for my decision, my shoes gave my feet blisters and I suffered all day long.  I had too many martinis, too many cups of coffee, and not enough sleep.  I also dedicated a whopping 45 minutes to school work--something tells me I'm going to regret this decision tomorrow night.

Now that you're heard about the weekend, this is kind of how it looked:

(I recommend you think about Ke$ha's Blah Blah Blah while you look at these pictures...that's what I'm going to do).

I made this coffee cozy on Friday night for a swell gal (she doesn't know about it yet). I tried it out while heading North.

I bought this yarn in Seattle. Projects to come!

We stayed at The Monaco. It was nice.

I stuck to martinis the whole night...hence the 20 olives.  In my defense, these two martinis came with three olives, not the standard two.

Lights...

You can request a fish in your room at The Monaco. They have about 150 down in housekeeping, we asked.

I bought these tulips at Pike Place. The tulip lady told me that double-petal red tulips are the only tulips that have a scent! Yes, please!

Breakfast view from Nick's perspective.

Sock yarn from Tucson for Nick's socks.

Slow start.

Yarn ball.

My perspective. A lot of orange.

Dirty John Doe

It's really fun to take your mom to the bar (not your mom, my mom).  Thursday night, my mom and I ventured North to take a peek at some of Picasso's paintings.  I hate Picasso. I've always hated Picasso, but even though I hate Picasso, I can still appreciate the collection.  I hated the collection.  It was crowded, and everyone was all ooooohing and aaaahhing over Picasso. Boring, snore.  I also didn't care for the audio guides at this particular exhibit.  Take a look at the portrait in front of you, have you ever heard of Picasso's blue period?  Don't ask me questions when I can't answer you, this isn't Seaseme Street. (I think they do that in Seaseme Street. They definitely do that in Blue's Clues.  Remember that time there was the rumor that Steve from Blue's Clues killed himself?  When really he was just in a band in Seattle, so his brother took over the show and they changed the colors in his striped polo shirt?  Me too.)  Back to the audio guides.  Of course we've heard of Picasso's blue period. At least I would hope that people have heard of it.

This is my mom coming out of the bathroom. Christine, you're welcome.

This is the only painting I liked. Her name is Olga.  Coming your way Christine.

I told mom to go stand by that half-naked man.

Leaving the bar.

Before we went to SAM, we went to The Chapel Bar.  It took us forever to find because Melrose is a tricky little street.  The Chapel bar used to be a mortuary. Awesome.  My mom kept making the joke about how we're going to need a couple drinks to go to the Picasso exhibit (no Nicolai's like Picasso).  My mom ordered the coconut martini but she ordered it like this, "I'll have the coconut [pointing], coconut rum, lime, sugared rim." It was cute. I ordered the ginger.  We had our drinks and talked about public schools.  Next, we split a dirty John Doe (gin martini). My mom really got a kick out of that (tipsy)!  Turns out she wasn't too much of a dirty John Doe fan--didn't stop her from drinking it though.  We looked at some art, bought some stuff in the gift shop, and I did a little documenting.
